Il progetto/installazione interpreta il processo di “congelamento” proprio del ricordo legato ad eventi di forte intensità emotiva.
La dinamica dell’onda è rappresentata da nastri irrigiditi e praticabili che accompagnano la memoria dell’evento verso la sua accettazione attraverso una riduzione alla scala umana.
I nastri consistono in impalcati in legno lamellare sbiancato che montano da terra fino a tre metri, in modo da poterli attraversare, scavalcare, vivere.
Di notte le luci all’interno dei nastri filtrano attraverso fasce traslucide alternate ai listoni, scomponendo le onde in una serie di schizzi di luce.

We cannot subdue a natural event,particularly when it is so devasting as a Indian Tsunami was.
All we can do is trying to control our memory of what it has meant to us and the whole world.
Remembering means to freeze a fact in time and space in order to transform it into a meaning-full image of what it has left in ours lives and mind.

The concept idea is to represent this mental-freezing process by reducing the wave dynamic into a series of ondulating stripes coming from the sea and crashing among the wood.
The memorial site mantains the natural event impact,reducing it into a human scale.
The purpose is to define a place dedicated to memories and their acceptance.
The “frozen waves” are rapresented by ondulating wooden boxes,white painted,elevating from yhe ground up to three meters sothat people can walk under through them or climb up their crest.
It’s possible to reach the memorial site both the shoreline or the wood,following the existing paths;It is meant to be seen at night time by a Inner lighting system:when the light are on,the waves appear,both from the sea or the wood,as a random series of smaller stripes.
